Lockdown Paintings, April/May 2020

Its been an absolute privilege and joy to work in the garden during lockdown , especially in this weather - unheard of normally on the west coast of Scotland - but it is extraordinary times! I think we have all taken more pleasure in watching spring arrive this year and for me concentrating on the changing colour in the garden just gets more fascinating . This week the purple and yellow azaleas are in full bloom and the stunning mauve acer draws me back to it most days . I’m learning to work quicker , more intuitively and my pallet has got brighter !

India , Feb 2020
In February I spent 3 jam packed weeks traveling in north and south India. What a joy. Some of the highlights - The Taj Mahal , Agra ; The Amber fort , Jaipur; painting in the breathtaking mountains of Tamil Nadu and painting in the tea plantations in Munnar. The people were a joy and the colour of the women’s saris as deep as any flower ! The heritage sites in north India were truly fascinating - only spoilt ever so slightly by the guide who confiscated my new watercolours and sketchbook at the entrance to the Red Fort in Delhi !
